Plantar Fasciopathy

The plantar fascia is a strong band that runs along the arch of your foot, helping support your leg and absorb load as you walk, run and move.

When the plantar fascia is exposed to more load than it can comfortably tolerate, it can become painful and sensitive. This is commonly referred to as plantar fasciopathy.

You may notice:

  • Pain underneath or around the heel

  • Pain with your first steps in the morning

  • Pain after sitting or resting

  • Symptoms that increase with walking, running or prolonged standing

  • Heel pain that has gradually become more persistent

Your assessment helps identify what may be contributing to your symptoms and more importantly, what your foot needs to gradually become stronger and more tolerant of load.

Our Osteopaths have a wide range of treatment techniques and management tools to use to help you with your foot pain, including Osteopathy manual therapy and Shockwave Therapy if indicated.
